עֲשָׂה חָיִל: לֹא־אָמִוּת
כִּי־אֶחְיֶה וַאֲסַפֵּר מַעֲשֵׂי יָהּ: יַסָּר יִסְרַנִי יָהּ וְלַמָּוֶת לֹא

New Testament (Greek)

Nuance? What is a nuance?

In the process of translation , from Hebrew and Greek to English language, the fine distinction, subtle distinction/ difference, shade of the original language is lost.
Lost Nuances = Translation Gap
( 忽略细微差别 = 翻译差距 ; Hūlüè xìwéi chābié = fānyì chājù )

But , "Why Are They Not Translated?" , you asked.
● There are no exact English words that mean the same thing/idea/nuance as the original language
● Too wordy to translate when trying to include the details in order to explain the original Nuances of that language
● Sometimes there are Multiple ways to translate certain word or verse
● There is visual / conceptual in Greek and Hebrew words which they want you to see in certain particular way which is not easy to be translated into English language while maintaining the original meaning
All these things added up to the Translation Gap.

Isaiah 30 :18 ,
In the New American Standard Bible (NASB)
¹⁸Therefore the LORD longs to be gracious to you, and therefore He waits on high to have compassion on you. For the LORD is a God of justice; How blessed are all those who long for Him.
Now we want to look at different translation.
In the English Standard Version (ESV):
¹⁸ Therefore, the LORD waits to be gracious to you, and therefore, He exalts himself to show mercy on you. For the LORD is a God of justice; blessed are all those who wait for Him.
Looking at the verse, side by side :
NASB ¹⁸ Therefore the LORD longs to be gracious to you
VS
ESV ¹⁸ Therefore the LORD waits to be gracious to you
We should Start Asking These Questions:
● why are certain words used
● why different translation used one word over another word
● how does that impact the way I read my Bible
